Forte Coffeehouse and Delicatessen

It's such a coincidence that my first two blogs are on places in Maginhawa St. I work nearby and by default I go there to eat.  So a med rep friend suggested we try the coffee shop near her work (and mine as well) .
Forte Coffeehouse at 120 Maginhawa St. Diliman QC

This place is beside burger project and Sancho. Parking at front is just good for two cars. The place is small but has an additional dining area at a lower level.

Counter with the cake display

There were several cakes displayed. But our goal was lunch and this was not our priority. Well, maybe next time....

Drink selection

They have several hot and cold drinks to chose from. The price is a bit on the expensive side--priced similarly to a popular coffee franchise joint .

Beethoven's Romance  php 150

It's such a weird thing that the highly recommended drink is not on the menu! We decided to try Beethoven's Romance, a Ferrero Rocher inspired drink. This might  be priced similar to a Starbucks drink but definitely yummier!

Potato wedges Php 95

Our pica-pica while chatting and waiting for our orders...

Hungarian Sausage ala carte Php230

My order: Hungarian Sausage. How can you go wrong with this? Right amount of spiciness with baby potatoes and steamed veggies on the side.

Thuringer Bratwurst ala carte Php 235

Cathy's order: Thuringer Bratwurst. Peppery looking but blander than the Hungarian. If you do not like spice, this is for you. I just wished that they have horseradish as dipping sauce instead of the yellow mustard and ketchup.

Baked cream dory Php 215

Zyrene's order: baked cream dory. It was tasty as  it seemed to be coated with paprika and capers before baking. A whole fillet was served with rice and veggies.

Pistachio Stardust Cake

Initially I thought this would be a heavy cake but it was delightfully not. Just the right amount of sweetness. The cake itself was not spectacular but the combo of the whipped cream and pistaschio added the much needed flavor.
With my lunch dates of the day: Cathy and Zyrene

The Verdict? Worth coming back for more. The food is good and the price is at medium range. You feel that you get your money's worth. We spent approx Php 1200 for the three entrees , two drinks , picapica and a cake.
